Dokkoida + Doujin Work Complete Collection

I got two sets today, so I'll feature them both here today! Dojin Work is the story of a girl wanting to become a doujin artist for the sake of money. She can't draw, neither can she write a good story, so her friend Tsuyuri helps her on the road to becoming a self-published manga artist. A slice-of-life story with a good amount of innuendo and mature jokes, while the nudity is kept to a minimum.

In Dokkoida, you'll meet a normal boy having trouble with finding a place to live, while making enough cash to get himself food. He doesn't have any work and all his attempts at finding some fails. However, when he is introduced to a strange girl wearing a space suit, he gets the chance of beeing a real life super hero! As an extra bonus, he'll get his own house and a monthly pay! But when both our heroes and enemies are together in the same apartment house, it isn't going to be easy to keep his identity a secret!

Both are comedies, where Dokkoida focuses on typical slapstick humor, while Dojin work has more of a verbal kind of humor, with strong focus on misunderstandings. Both are great series with very original characters and interesting plots, so these should be a great watch for those interested in humorous anime.

The cases is your typical sized dvd case, so there are not any boxes here. Doujin Work also comes with a pamplet with ads for other anime series/japanese movies released by "media factory".

Doujin Works Extras: Credittless OP/ED, 12 Live Action episodes and a 24-page digital Manga preview (With a very annoying animeworks logo in the background...)

Dokkoida Extras: Credittless OP/ED, Making of Dokkoida, Japanese Commercials

Shichinin no Nana (Seven of Seven) ~Perfect Collection~

"Seven of Seven" is an Anime comedy series with character designs by the creator of "Keroro Gunso", Yoshizaki Mine. It's the story of a girl who's divided into seven copies of herself, each with a different personality. Ever episode is very episodic, where the "original" Nana has to solve a problem using her other selfs. There's a total of 26 episodes + an OVA

I enjoyed this somewhat, at least enough to watch the whole thing. The jokes were pretty much tame and the storylines of every episode was pretty cliche, but it's a great example of Anime from the early 2000s, free from fanservice and innuendo. The show is insanely innocent, so it should be fine for all ages (except for the very last episode).

So let's go on to the DVD set! The box is double the thickness of a normal DVD cover, and there's six discs here to boot with 5 episodes on some, and 4 on the rest. The box is very sturdy (as it is made by plastic) and the discs are neatly put into the box. 4 discs is in the box itself, while 2 is present by adding an extra disc holder into the box. The art of every disc is taken from the original "volume" releases before the complete set, and the age rating is 7 years and older, which should be fine for this show (not including the OVA). The art is a little bit misleading, though, as it looks like your typical ecchi series.  There are no extras, even though the backside of the box brags about it, which is a huge dissappointment. I checked all six discs, but none of them had anything else besides the episodes and some trailers. There's both English and Japanese voice tracks.

Kujibiki Unbalance: Kaichou Onegai Smash Fight! ~Limited First Press Edition~

"Kujibiki Unbalance" is a spin-off series often watched by the characters in "Genshiken". While Genshiken didn't manage to get their own game, this series did, and it is in the form of an RPG. The title "Onegai Smash Fight" makes it sound like a fighting game, but it is more of an action RPG (Think Kingdom Hearts, not turn based). You'll take control over the protagonist, Chihiro, and make a party with the characters of your choice to set out on a quest to save the school from skeletons, slimes and other dangerous monsters.

This pack features a very nice and stylish box, a special disc (One-sided dialogue with the protagonist) and a desktop accessories CD.

It's clearly fan-art, but that doesn't mean it is bad!
Looks a lot better than the original art style!

This box has also suffered some sun "burns"
At least it's colorful!

The special "Dere" disc. The artwork looks like it was
made by a teenager in his early anime years...

School Rumble: Neru Musume wa Sodatsu ~DX Pack~

Once again, here's yet another School Rumble game, but this one is focused on the first season of the show. The title is "School Rumble: Neru Musume wa Sodatsu". Just like the other game, this one is a visual novel with some romantic elements included. You are in charge of Harima and are going to be friends with all the girls. The higher the friendship level is, the better the chance of getting a good ending with the character you like.

The DX pack of this title is small, but features a lot of content. We have a soundtrack CD, a desktop accessories CD and some stickers. The soundtrack CD is about 1 hour long, while the desktop accessories CD will provide plenty of hours with fun. We're talking about calendars, breakout games, desktop mascots, pc icons and much, much more!

Suzumiya Haruhi no Tomadoi PS2 ~DX Pack~

Suzumiya Haruhi is probably the most popular anime series ever aired in japan. Despite of that, they're not making a new season and has put the series on hold for over 4 years. Maybe they're waiting for the novel to finish? Nobody knows... However, there's still a lot of games to play if you are craving Haruhi merchandise!

"Suzumiya Haruhi no Tomadoi" is a adventure/simulator game for the PS2 system. You'll join Haruhi and her club in a quest to make a fully functionable game. Either if it's an RPG, Visual Novel or Princess simulator you're aiming for, you'll get the joy of playing the finished product. That's like four games in one box!

The DX edition of this game features ONE single bonus: A revoltech figma. These kinds of figurines usually go for 8000 yen (80$), so getting the box for 10 bucks (with free shipping!) from ebay was a bargain! The box is incredibly huge as well, so you need a good amount of shelf space for this one! The figurine comes with a stand, an extra face and some extra hands in different positions. There's also an attachable sword.

It's empty because it lives in my shelf

Extra hands for extra detail

A angry Haruhi face, if you like that better than the smiling one

The expression she has on the manual is scary...
She has evil, evil plans for Kyon

And the figure itself used previously on the blog

Love Hina Gorgeous Chiratto Happening ~First Press Limited Edition~

The turn has now come to the game "Love Hina - Gourgeous Chiratto Happening", an adventure game based on the best-selling romance manga series "Love Hina". You take control of Keitaro and has to raise the affection levels of the girls in the dorm. You do this by completing different mini-games, join them on events and visiting their room on a regular basis. If the girls affection towards you is high enough, you'll be treated to a good ending: a date with the character you choose. If you don't focus on any of them and try to give everyone the same amount of attention, you'll most likely get the bad ending where the game ends halfways.

The game itself is great. There's 100+ unlockable CG pictures and a whole lot of events. The mini games are divided into four kinds (Reaction, rotation, direction and  fast-forward/back), and are usually very challenging. Losing a mini game means losing CG, so it's necessary to save often in this game. You can't load a game before you've completed a chapter, so you will have to restart the whole console if you did something wrong. That, or you can fast-forward to the end of the chapter (takes 15 minutes, though!). Every voice actors is here once again to reprise their roles and the artwork is made by Ken Akamatsu. Or more accurate, it's panels from the manga series, just colored.

The bonus items aren't really something to brag about. It has your typical big box, and some cards. Not playing cards, not trading cards but "event" cards. They're better explained by pictures, so take a look at the pictures if you're curious about those.

The box. It's pink, it has hearts, it has shiny silver lines...
Yes, it looks like a game for girls...

The back of the cover. The rectangle in the middle is

The inside of the cover. Even the disc is pink...

One transparent card and one event card. Put them together and...

Voila!

Want some Keitaro x Shinobu romance as well?

Well, here you go!!

Also includes some dress up cards. There's only
one outfit for every character, so it's a bit lame

Game ni Natta yo! Dokuro-chan! ~First Press Limited Edition~

I didn't really enjoy Dokuro-chan that much (the violence was way over the top), but it had some really memorable moments I'll never forget. Like the infamous "Binkan the salary man" TV show, or the cut/paste pictures of real life animal heads used on human characters. And who can forget the man-angel Zansu, the biker gang lookalike with a very silly personality?

I was looking forward to more of these moments and therefore brought the game. The voices were the same as in the anime, the story was avarage at best and the game lasted for four hours. The amount of CG was fine, and the videos were ripped off from the OVA series, which is pretty dissappointing if you're expecting new animation. Still worth the money, though (15$ including shipping).

As for this edition, it features a pretty neat box, an interview CD and an artbook with full color artwork, sketches and character profiles.
